Bear Claw Amulet And Amulet Container

An amulet, similar to a talisman, is an object intended to bring good luck or protection to its owner. Potential amulets can include gems, especially engraved gems, statues, coins, drawings, pendants, rings, plants and parts of animals. The word "amulet" comes from the Latin amuletum; earliest extant use in Pliny's Natural History, meaning 'an object that protects a person from trouble'.

As from my own collection, these bear claws are originally from Bintulu, Sarawak, as a family good luck and protection charm.

Three of the bear claws has been set in an individual custom-fitted gold cap used as a pendant.

There are also another type of silver amulet container in my collection. The amulet container is used for keeping the Chinese paper talismans (called "Fu" in Mandarin).
