Straits Chinese Ceramic Garden Stools

Pictures below show a pair of handmade antique ceramic garden stools with intricate filigree panels from Penang. It is made from China during the late 1800's. These type of garden stools were often displayed at the central or inner courtyard of the house which is something that is very often seen in a Baba Nyonya home.

  1. Hello there. I wish to point out that the magnificent Peranakan antique you labeled as “Stool “ is infact a pot stand. It is usually coupled with a matching pot ie in material, colour and glaze. This stand is taller and slimmer than a Peranakan Garden stool and not suitable to be sat upon. Best wishes from a Malacca Baba in self exile. 😎
